UV-proof Fabrics (Functional Serial Fabrics)  

UV from Sunlight

Sunlight contains many rays invisible to human eyes. Of such rays, UV has its wavelength at 100-400nm, taking 6.1% of sunray. 

Classification and Harms to Human Body 

UV includes three wavelengths—long wave, midwave and shortwave, and the UV with longer wavelength has the stronger penetrating power.

Presently, many national and regional meteorlolgical observatories, astronomical observatories and other organizations in the world will release the indices, reminding people to prevent the UV.  The WHO has established the international standard of UV indices so as to guide all nations to prevent the UV.

 UV-proof Clothes  

With the gradual consumption of ozone layer of the earth (4%~6 consumed each year), and the cavity is being enlarged and then the radiant quantity of UV is being increased. Now the human life style is changed, and outdoor activities are more. People used to apply the cosmetics to protect the exposed skin, but now they will wear the clothes to prevent the harm from the UV to the covered parts, so that the anti-sunburn measures are carried out perfectly.  For those parts not exposed directly to sunshine, such measures shall be still be taken. The anti-sunburn clothes and ornaments are useful and applicable, and such objects are playing an important role for such purpose.  

 

The developed countries provide that the school uniforms for middle and primary school students shall be made with the UV-proof fabrics.

 

The principle for prevention of UV is to utilize the ultraviolet absorber to absorb the hi-energy UV, and turn it to the low-energy, so as to make it to be the low-energy heat energy or electromagnetic wave with shorter wavelength and then to eliminate the UV harms to human body and fabrics; the ultraviolet reflector can be utilized to enhance the fabric’s reflection and diffusion to UV so as to prevent the penetration into the fabrics.
